A few weeks ago the gang over at HomeSense invited me down to their flagship London store to film a festive video for my Store Tour series. Arriving in store I was set my challenge: to style a Christmas tabletop and tree before sharing my tips for recreating the look at home. I quickly headed off to explore the isles, scouring them to find the perfect pieces from their Traditional Christmas range to pull together a festive tabletop and style a tree. That’s what I love about going to HomeSense – you never quite know what you’re going to find!

I was a little apprehensive about being able to pull together a cohesive look, style it up in a busy store environment and talk about it on camera in such a short space of time, but I’m really pleased with the final result. I always try to keep three main elements in mind when creating a tabletop: colour, pattern and texture. To create a cohesive look I used organic burlap to bring texture and combined it with Scandi patterns paired with a polka dot print for a modern twist; all within a red, white and green palette. I managed to find a super table-runner that had a pretty Scandi-inspired pattern running along it, which I paired with similar napkins tied together with faux-foliage as a nod to the foliage-adorned centerpiece wreath. The centerpiece consisted of a bell wreath around a cake stand, upon which stood a tree ornament. I like to bring pieces that are meant for decorating elsewhere to the table because it creates a quirky, unusual look. Finally, to keep with the traditional theme, I decided to place a Nutcracker in front of each place setting. I don’t know about you but for me this season was always at its most magical when I was a child, so I thought it would be fun to add something for the little ones at the table. With the tabletop set and the tree decorated I headed off to show you guys two other great trends they had in store: Woodland Creatures and Peacock Fashion. I’d love to know which of the three you would like to decorate with?
