My favourite way to spend New Year’s Eve is around the table with close friends enjoying great conversation about the year gone by and the one ahead. So I was delighted when Manvi pulled together this wonderful New Year’s Eve bash full of colour and sparkle as part of the Tablescape 101 series. I love that this look embraces a budget approach to tablescape design. After all, with the excess and expense of the Holiday season it’s great to create a show-stopping look on a shoestring, right?! One of my favourite ideas is to use a roll of gold wrapping paper down the centre of the table as a table runner; it’s ideal for pulling all the smaller elements of the design together and it doesn’t matter if food, wine or wax get split on it as the festivities get more, well, festive! Another great tip for creating a cohesive tabletop is to echo the main elements of the scheme – colour, pattern and texture – in the smaller pieces. Here the metallic graphic on the salad plates ties in with the gold runner and stemware, which visually pulls the look together. To create a knockout centrepiece, try freehand painting with gold leafing liquid onto simple white vases and then fill with white peonies. Then pepper brightly coloured votives and flickering candles around the table to give a warm and welcoming feel. Finally, use leftover wrapping paper to make party hats and add a name tag to the top so that they double as fun placecards. All done? Great, all that’s left to do is to pop the bubbly on ice. Cheers! How will you be celebrating New Year’s Eve, folks?

If you celebrated Christmas yesterday, I hope you had a great time enjoying the company of your loved ones with plenty of indulgent food?! I’m still at home with my family but I had to jump on and blog this colourful range of sofas and armchairs from Content By Conran at Mydeco because they are currently 20% off – Mr. Bazaar loves it when colour comes together with a great deal! I love this collection because the pieces are ideal for bringing a colour statement into the home. If you’re looking to take your scheme from drab to fab then why not add an occasional armchair in cerise pink to a cosy reading corner? Or, if you’re looking to create a knockout colour statement you could combine a sofa and armchair in opposing hues for a dramatic final look. Lately I’ve been drawn to sumptuous and luxurious purple hues, so naturally the 59th Street sofa in the Iris colourway ticks all the boxes for me! I also love the classic wingback design of the Duke and Duchess armchair; the curve detailing brings a lovely feeling of romance to the piece. Check out the whole collection here. Which piece would you bring into your home, friends?

Before I sign off to prepare for Christmas and spend time with my loved ones, I wanted to wish you all the happiest of holidays. Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, I hope the next year is full of good health, happiness and success for you and the special people in your life. Thank you all the warm-hearted words you shared when I announced my engagement – I was genuinely touched reading them all. In fact, my partner and I have gone old school and printed them out as a memento! I’ll be back here again before the year is out but until then have a great one, dear friends!
