molekuleIf I asked you to tell me the first place that comes to mind when I say the word ‘fall’ you’re unlikely to reply with ‘a beach house’. To be honest, me neither! However, when my heartmate and I renovated our beach house we did so with a plan to use the property year round. I’ve long been an advocate for seasonal redecorating – by that I don’t mean hanging seasonal garlands or holiday-themed décor (although I’m totally here for that, too!). Rather, I mean taking inspiration from the season to breathe new life into a space to refresh everything from the furniture to the textiles to the tech in the room. Today, I’ve teamed up with Molekule to do just that – here are the five changes I’ve made to our beach house bedroom for fall…molekule1. Bold Bedding
I love our upholstered bed in the beach house master. We purposely chose a clean, white boucle fabric for the bed’s upholstery because it gives us the flexibility to switch out the bedding and surrounding décor each season. In the summer I embraced the colors and textures of the surrounding coast to create a light, bright and refreshing bedroom for relaxing weekends out of the city. As we transitioned into fall, I switched out the lighter colors for darker, richer hues – browns replaced blues, fall foliage replaced cut hydrangeas and so on. This fall season I’m using the bedding to create a color statement in the space. Rich bronze colored linen bedding paired with an equally intense midnight navy blue muslin throw brings warmth and coziness to the room.molekule2. Cleaner Air
Regular viewers of my Instagram Story have likely seen me fawn over the Molekule air purification system in the past, so my excitement to finally own one was palpable when it arrived a few weeks ago. I had been nervous to purchase a Molekule because I was worried it might be too big or distracting to use in my home. After all, I’m often designing to hide technology not put it on full display! Those fears dissipated the moment I saw the Molekule for the first time – it’s so chic! I love how the natural leather handle gives it a subtle Scandinavian vibe, as well as makes it easy to move around the house.

OK, so now we know that Molekule looks good enough to have on display, what does it actually do?! Well, it uses patented PECO (Photo Electrochemical Oxidation) technology that works at the molecular level to eliminate indoor air pollution. It has a dual-filtration system: a Pre-Filter and a PECO-Filter. The Pre-Filter captures larger particles such as dust and pet hair, while the PECO-Filter is coated by the proprietary catalyst (fancy!) that breaks down pollutants at a molecular level when activated by light. Listen, I’m no scientist but anything that helps my allergies, I can control remotely from my phone and doesn’t disturb the look nor sound (it’s so quiet!) of the room, I’m all for. We’ve had Molekule for three weeks and there’s so much less dust build up in the room and I’ve been waking up with far less congestion than before.molekule3. Smarter Storage
As we spent more time in the beach house over the summer we quickly realized that we need more hidden storage in the bedroom. So, we took the open bookcase from the bedroom nook and replaced it with the BJÖRKSNÄS dresser. Not only do I love its simple Scandinavian style (the birch looks so good with the white washed European oak floors!) but also how the nude leather pulls add tactility and warmth. Plus, they match the Molekule’s leather handle, too – it was meant to be! I bought the art print a few months ago after falling in love with it. I’d been waiting for the perfect room refresh to let it shine, and this was it. Doesn’t it look great?!molekule4. Refreshed Textiles
Textiles are brilliant for a quick seasonal refresh. I decided to rest our striped blue Ralph Lauren rug for the fall/winter season as it’s been in the master bedroom since we first decorated it after the renovation. In its place I laid the darker STOCKHOLM rug which is made from wool by craftspeople in India. I love how tactile it feels underfoot, plus it contrasts beautifully with the bronze bedding. I accented the rich jewel-like blue tones with fall-inspired decorative pillows in an array of amber, copper and rust tones.molekule5. Autumnal Blooms
I knew I wanted to bring nature into the master for the fall season but as we don’t live at the beach house full-time, real flowers weren’t an option. Instead, I found these amazing faux blooms from Michaels and they are so realistic. They fit the refreshed color palette of the scheme so well! Plus, I can use them season after season and even move them downstairs to use as a dining table centerpiece when my heartmate and I entertain this fall.

  1. Loved this post. I’ve been interested in them for a while but also worried about the scale of it. Seeing it in your bedroom makes it seem way smaller than I thought. Just have to wait for pay day now! 😉

  2. LOVE! You made the perfect bedroom for fall! Have a great hump day Will!

  3. I saw this in Moma but the store was so noisy I couldn’t tell how loud the thing was. Do you find it annoying? Tnks

    • @Cindy – There’s a silent mode that does what it says on the tin, so to speak! And there in the normal mode it just sounds like a light fan is on, so it’s quite a subtle sound. Hope that helps!

  4. Will! This is gorgeous. I love how warm you made the space look without even painting the walls. And thanks for info on Molekule, I had never heard of them.

    Happy Wednesday!

  5. Those are some bold color choices, but they look wonderful! It’s warm and inviting that’s for sure. Lovely!

  6. Amazed with your ideas, all the points are very interesting but i like that smarter storage the most as storage is the main issue .Your color choice is really fantastic.
