Ever since we completed renovations at the beach house, the guest bedroom has been waiting in the wings for its moment in the spotlight. Well, my friends, the time has come for the beach house guest bedroom to enter stage right and take, well, centre stage! I’m excited to be partnering with Schlage to work on a design overhaul of the space. Thanks to the renovation we recently completed on the beach house, the bare bones of the space are in great shape. However, it’s in dire need of attention when it comes to all those little but oh-so-important design details. One such detail is the door hardware. We were so caught up in the renovations for the main/everyday rooms in the beach house that we actually ordered one door handle too few, forgetting to account for the guest bedroom. So when Schlage asked us to style their beautiful door hardware, we had the perfect space in mind! We chose the Custom Broadway Lever in black to match the rest of the hardware that runs throughout the house. I’m excited to see how it’s going to look in the space because it flows so well with the modern vibe of the mood board I made (above).

I’m continuing the subtle Scandi vibe in this space in order to ensure a red-thread with the rest of the beach house. However, to keep things interesting I’m going to weave a Mediterranean flavor into the design. Fusing design directions and influences is one of my favorite ways to decorate. Much of the beach house has my all time favorite mix (Scandi and Coastal), so I’m excited to style the beach house guest bedroom to be a room that references the same design families, but with it’s own unique flair. I’ll introduce organic elements, like the olive tree, while juxtaposing materials, such as brass against tactile untreated oak and ash elements. Meanwhile, sleek and functional Scandinavian designs (the custom leather headboard and wooden nightstand) marry effortlessly with the same qualities seen in the Broadway lever that we’re adding to the main door and closet. OK, time for me to get sourcing and decorating – I’ll be back here with the room reveal soon! In the meantime, follow along on Instagram for sneak peeks.
