beach house bedroom designBefore I dive into allllll the gorgeous details of the beach house bedroom, I have to start this post by saying a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who responded so encouragingly and positively to the reveal of our beach house kitchen earlier this week. Wow! I admit: before the reveal I was kinda nervous (read: very nervous!) because it was my first time designing a kitchen. Although my heartmate and I loved it, as a newbie to something you never know how your work will be received. It has ended up being some of my most popular content I’ve ever shared across Bright.Bazaar’s channels, which is truly the icing on the cake and I couldn’t be more grateful for the generous support of my work. Anyway, I don’t want this to start sounding like an Oscar acceptance speech (because let’s get real it’s just design!) but wanted to sincerely offer my thanks to everyone who took the time to leave a note telling me what inspired them about the space, and which details they loved the most. You are the BEST!

OK, back to today and the next space we’re revealing: the beach house bedroom! This is the first of the spaces I worked on in collaboration with The Studio at One Kings Lane and I’m so excited to share the reveal with you. Last month, I posted the design direction for the beach house bedroom and today I’m sharing all the beautiful pictures of the completed space. Come take the tour with me below!

beach house bedroom designI want to kick off talking about the design of this space by focusing on the color palette. Given my love for hue that’s hardly surprising(!) but the rich green feature wall truly is the main anchor of this beach house bedroom design. My reason for choosing to paint the wall behind the bed in an accent color was simple: impact. I knew that by highlighting this wall in the space it would make a feature out of the architectural shapes at play. The house is a traditional Cape Cod that has been extended at the back with a shed dormer roof to create a full height ceiling along the back of the house upstairs. Rather than try to disguise the dormers I was keen to embrace their architectural shape. By painting the one wall in the gorgeously rich and cocooning Goodwin Green it’s accentuated the architecture of the room, creating visual interest in the space.beach house bedroom designI paired the Goodwin Green with Sleigh Bells at 50%, which is a grey with a subtle green undertone; by knocking it back 50% it allows the green feature wall to shine. I love how these two colors play off against one another: the green is gorgeously enveloping and warm, while the grey is refreshing and invigorating. There are windows on three of the four walls so the space is flooded with light, and it brings the room, and the colors within it, to life. The antique mirror upon the Adams 3-drawer dresser is one of my favorite pieces in the whole house – I love it! I also love how the little black triangle print of the throw pillows in the window seat subtly tie into the black accents that pepper the room.beach house bedroom designSo I had the green feature wall set and it was time to layer in the other elements of the space. My aim was to keep the bedroom feeling light and bright: our beautiful European oak flooring from Madera Trade went a long way to helping achieve this goal. I also wanted to create a lighter contrast against the dark green, so the Kelly wingback bed was the perfect piece to check that box. The striped upholstery adds a punch of pattern while simultaneously tempering the richness of the green accent wall. Plus, the wingback makes the beach house bedroom feel super cozy, too. I chose the Titik fabric from Caroline Cecil Textiles as it co-ordinates seamlessly with the upholstered bed and helps to tell a consistent design story. Oh, and I’m also obsessed with the vintage Oushak rug!beach house bedroom designThe high-end finish of the beach house is thanks to our incredible contractors, City & Stone, who have brought on board fantastic trades who took so much pride in their work. It’s the beautifully painted walls, expertly laid flooring and carefully installed lighting that makes the furniture shine in the space. I’m so glad we removed the built-in closet to open up more space along this side of the bedroom. It means we were able to have this cozy seating area with a pair of the Acton Tufted Club Chairs. The luxurious green velvet ties back into the Goodwin Green feature wall so well, don’t you think?! I also can’t get over how cute the vintage Filigree marble and brass side table is! Speaking of brass, the Pimlico double swing arm sconce has been on my must-have list for several years. I stayed in a bedroom at Soho House Chicago three years ago and they had the same sconce in nickel. When I saw them in brass on One Kings Lane I knew immediately I had to include a pair of them in our beach house bedroom.

Our beach house sale goes live on One Kings Lane tomorrow but if you can’t wait until then to shop the look of our beach house bedroom, all the links you need are below. Yay! When you said you used sleigh bells at 50% what did you mean? The room is STUNNING!!! xo

    • @Sarah-Jessica – Oh, I meant that I used it with only half the tint put in it so that the color was less saturated. And, thank you! 🙂

Another design triumph for @brightbazaar! I love that the bedroom has a subtle masculine feel while still being warm and intimate. I could definitely see myself sunk down in those fabulous green velvet club chairs sipping my coffee every morning. Again, Congrats to you both on your beautiful new home!❤

  6. I would love to pick what elements are speaking to me the most but the truth is the whole darn space is SPEAKING TO ME. I LOVE IT!!!! I also cannot fathom you having been nervous to unveil the kitchen since I LOVE IT equally. But that’s just me. I am looking from the outside in. And I know, being a creative too, how unnerving it is to unveil anything I’ve created. But kudos to you for doing this. You are making me dream big of owning or having a space again. Rental apartment life just isn’t cutting it anymore. Haha.

    • @Kirsten – I love that you love the space as much as we do and I LOVE that you understand from a creative perspective what it’s like to open your personal work up to public critique. Thanks for the warm support!

  7. Will – You are such a force of beauty and light (much needed given the state of the world). I’m truly enjoying following along as you renovate, and your infectious enthusiasm is a joy (as is your design aesthetic).

  8. Will – Love follow your blog and Instagram. Although a lot of the products you use aren’t available here in Australia your content is so inspiring. I’m loving the beach house reveal, can’t wait to see the rest of the rooms!

    • @Nick – I so appreciate you following along! I remember when I lived in the U.K. and would be so frustrated by not being able to shop products from the U.S. but I feel that it’s shifting and more and more companies are doing international shipping. Fingers crossed it won’t be too long before we can all shop from countries no matter where we live. Thanks agin for the support, Nick!

  9. I love the way you’ve used that beautiful dark wall, yet the room still looks so light and airy. Really inspiring too! Such a beautiful home 🏠 that you and Toby are creating!

    • @Emma – Thank you! So glad you said it feels light and airy despite the dark green wall as that was an aim of ours. Appreciate you stopping by! Have a lovely weekend!

  10. Goodness, you’re steaming ahead with the renovations Will. I love this room! It looks so comfortable and sophisticated. I particularly love how you’ve mixed old and new so that it doesn’t look ‘just done’. Can I have this room when I visit?. xx

    • @Carole – It’s been a busy six months of renovations that’s for sure! 😉 Loved that you described the space as sophisticated because we really wanted the cottage to have a cozy, comfortable yet timeless, sophisticated vibe. Can’t wait for you to visit! Lots of love xx

  11. Your home is so timeless, elegant and heartwarming – many congratulations to you both. So many decisions to make when renovating – but a great feeling when you’ve really nailed the design and created something perfectly unique…

  12. Your room looks really beautiful. The best thing that I liked the most is the sitting area. I just loved this area of your room.

  13. I really love your way of decoration. Every room is eye catching and awesome. Specially, I love the antique mirror and the pillows which are in the window seat.
