Anderson-Cooper-trancoso-brazil-vacation-home-1When an email from Architectural Digest featuring a tour of Anderson Cooper’s vacation property in the Brazilian town of Trancoso popped into my inbox this morning, I literally ran to the corner of my block to pick up a copy from the newsstand. Why? Not only did I want to see the whole space immediately but I knew this would be a classic issue I’d want to cherish in print, too. (Yep, magazine geek right here!) The property has been dubbed “Casa Anderson” per local custom and is a riot of exotic colors, textures and materials. In fact, it’s a total #MakeYouSmileStyle property that I think you’re gonna love just as much as I do! Click through after the jump to tour the space in full.

Anderson-Cooper-trancoso-brazil-vacation-home-2Cooper hired fashion designer turned hotelier Wilbert Das to build the property, which spans four buildings, a free-form swimming pool, and land peppered with a lush assortment of mango, cacao, jackfruit, banana, and açaí trees. Wilbert designed the property to be constructed largely of materials salvaged from an abandoned Bahian farmhouse, as a way to create something attuned to the local culture. The dining area displays an assortment of Brazilian devotional oratories against a turquoise wall. The ceiling lights and dining chairs are by Uxua Casa and contrast beautifully with the waxed concrete floor.Anderson-Cooper-trancoso-brazil-vacation-home-3The decor throughout the property is a fusion of vintage finds and pieces crafted by local artisans, which illustrates Cooper’s penchant for authentic furnishings. In the kitchen, I love the contrast between the smooth concrete countertops against the rustic reclaimed-wood cabinets. Details in the form of a the framed Ghanaian flag and vintage pendant lamp complete the space.Anderson-Cooper-trancoso-brazil-vacation-home-4Comfort is added to the veranda thanks to a line up of indigo pillows.Anderson-Cooper-trancoso-brazil-vacation-home-5Naturally, I appreciate both Anderson’s home decor and fashion aesthetics (nice color blocking, Cooper!), but let’s talk about that free form swimming pool? Divine.Anderson-Cooper-trancoso-brazil-vacation-home-6Anderson is pictured here with his partner, Benjamin Maisani, next to the pool which was lined by Wilbert in tatajuba planks. Given it’s almost 95 degrees in NYC today, I would very much like to be transported right to this spot. Anyone else?!Anderson-Cooper-trancoso-brazil-vacation-home-7Those vintage trunks at the foot of the bed aren’t purely decorative – the top one conceals a television. Smart!Anderson-Cooper-trancoso-brazil-vacation-home-8No word other than ‘dreamy’ is required to describe this shower room. Anderson’s love of antiques continues to be seen in this writing desk nook (above right).Anderson-Cooper-trancoso-brazil-vacation-home-9This grouping of terra-cotta pendant lights? Yes, yes, yes. Which details of Anderson Cooper’s vacation home in Brazil do you like best? I’ve pulled together some pieces from across the market to help you recreate this exotic, colorful look in your own home.Anderson-Cooper-trancoso-brazil-vacation-home-10 SHOP THE LOOK: fig.1, Bamboo Pendant | fig.2, Vintage Indigo Pillow | fig.3, Ashanti Fertility Doll | fig.4, Framed Cactus Silk | fig.5, Jute Storage Basket | fig.6, Yoruba Crown V | fig.7, Silver Shimmer Lidded Basket | fig.8, Heathered Chenille Jute Rug
