small-space-dining-tables-round-squareIn between work trips and projects, I’m continuing to pull together my new apartment in NYC. It’s slowly coming together but I am still in the market for a small dining table. Originally, I had opted to forgo having a dining table as we have a small (read: tiny) breakfast bar on one side of the kitchen. However, after two months of living in the space we realised that we miss having a proper table to sit at. As well as dining, I miss having a space to sit at and paint. So, I though this week’s Six of the Best should be dedicated to some dining table options that are great for smaller spaces. Let me know which one you like best, and why! Have a great weekend, friends.

1. Alias adjustable bistro table | I like the charming bistro shape of this design, and the fact that it quickly raises up and down to transition from coffee table to dining table certainly makes it a versatile piece for a small space.

2. Tinka Mid-Century Modern Dining Table | The tapered legs instantly spell out a mid-century modern inspired design for this piece from Urban Outfitters. I like how it would easily sit four people allowing for my heartmate and I to have double dates and small dinner parties.

3. BACKARYD / RYDEBÄCK Dining Table | This eye-catching design is from IKEA. Although one of the larger options in the mix, I like how it could double as a desk and also look really striking thanks to the angular supports. Naturally, the price is on-point!

4. Dakota Dining Table | Jayson Home’s Dakota table has a subtle mid-century modern feel and I like how the woven wire base with the antique silver finish can be seen through the glass top. It would be a nice structural addition to the space.

5. Simon X Dining Table | This hardwood base is sold separately from the glass top which makes it easy to customise to a given space. I like the gentle country feel brought about by the chunky wooden design. Again, it would be a striking and sculptural addition to the space.

6. Box Frame Square Dining Table | This pared-back industrial design is currently the front runner. As #BBbrownstone has a metal spiral staircase, high ceilings and exposed brick walls there’s definitely an industrial feel to the space. This design would fit well with some pieces I have already purchased for the space, plus it would easily fit four people.

7. Pastel Angles Vase | This design is graphic and playful thanks to geometric shapes and sorbet hues. Full marks!

8. Zinc Florist’s Vase | Sometimes you can’t beat a classic; a zinc florist’s vase is a case in point as they just always ooze rustic charm and class.

9. Chala Multi-Coloured Patterned Ceramic Vase | Gosh, I really do love the beautiful watercolor-like hues of this ceramic vase combines beautiful hues. They are hand painted so each one is unique.

  1. The box frame table would be a great choice. Can’t wait to see the space!! Have a fun weekend in your new city!

  2. The alias table is just what we need for our apartment. Thanks for sharing this post! Love reading your blog here in Iowa.

    • @RB – So pleased you found something you like. I have to say that the changing height of that CB2 design makes it an attractive option!

  3. what about the very first one that looks like a drop leaf styled with a vase and chair!?!?

my husband and I are on a desperate search for a drop leaf table that when the leaves are down, it’s a console table! so perfect for our dining-room-is-only-a-dream tiny spaces that combine living and dining. unfortunately we haven’t found “the” one yet…

  4. Of course I love the most expensive choice the best. Sigh. The Pier One option is also great. I think pedestal tables are a good choice for small spaces

  5. Number 5 gets my vote. Anything wood has my vote and my husband loves glass, this is such a creative table I’ve never seen anything quite like it that combines both wood and glass. Both of our loves together in one table, what could be better? That’s for your table compilation!
