new-season-armchairs I’m at the airport on my way to Mexico for the first stop in a busy week of photoshoots but I wanted to drop by the blog with a new ‘six of the best’ round up before I hit the skies. I’m currently looking for an armchair to round out a corner in #BBbrownstone’s living room area. Since I moved to NYC almost two months ago I’ve been sitting on the floor but ever so slowly I’m starting to pull the space together and will be sharing the first looks inside very soon! OK, let’s work our way through these characterful and colourful new season chairs before I have to run to the gate!

1. Fig.1, RHL Hepplewhite Wing Chair | Without a doubt this is a statement piece thanks to it’s pronounced shape and antique finish. The wing shape has an exposed walnut frame that contrasts beautifully with the faded indigo upholstery. A beautiful blue armchair!

2. Fig.2, Teal Kendall Velvet Chair | If you love mid-century style and you are on a budget then Cost Plus World Market’s offering here is idea. I like the velvet teal colourway, tapered solid wood legs and tufted detailing.

3. Fig.3, Solid Linen Armchair | Linen has to be one of my favourite fabrics for upholstery, so this timeless design from Terrain was instantly in my design good books! Each one is hand crafted out of mango wood, too. This would be a great colour block accent in an otherwise pared back, simple scheme.

4. Fig.4, Vallette Upholstered Chair | This elegant Restoration Hardware design is elegance of a reproduction of a mid-19th century French original chair. I am tempted to introduce a heritage piece such as this into my otherwise modern-industrial scheme, just to break up the flow a little. I love the flared roll arms detailing.

5. Fig.5, Equestrian Chair | Another elegant option, this chair is also tempting me because it’s perfect for smaller spaces. I love the broken-in and well-worn patina to the leather. I think this would be the perfect little spot to sit with a good book.

6. Fig.6, Sundial Chair | OK, so this is an outdoor chair but I couldn’t resist those blue and white stripes! Plus, this spring I’ll be refurnishing our deck and it’s never too early to start planning, right…?!

7. Fig.7, Versi Pillow | Navy, bright blue and a calming neutral = my favourite colour combination for, well, just about anything! NEED!

8. Fig.8, Block Print Stripe Pillow | I already own this piece and can attest that it’s even more beautiful in person. Made from pure linen they are block printed using a natural colour extraction technique that utilizes the resin of sustainably harvested acacia trees along with the power of the sun.

9. Fig.9, Jules Pillow | The pattern on this Serena and Lily pillow is a nod to the ogee arch (an architectural element that graces many Gothic doorways). Graphic and colourful, I love it!

Which chair gets your vote, folks?

  1. I love the first pillow (7) and the #2 chair is my favorite but I can see how 4 could also work.

  2. I needed this post. I’m in the midst of trying to find the perfect chair for our living room. Thanks so much for the inspiration. Is it bad that I want the outside chair (fig 6) for inside?! 😉
