NYC-Central-Park-In-The-Snow-1After what has been a relatively mild winter by NYC standards (I visited the city last January and February and it was bitterly cold!), we finally had proper East Coast winter weather this past weekend. In fact, it went one step further and we had the second largest snowfall recorded in the city ever – 26.8″ in Central Park. As it was the first proper snowfall I’ve experienced since moving here I couldn’t wait to head out and enjoy it! As well as going sledging in Central Park I also took my camera along to capture all the winter wonderland magic to share with you guys. I love how everything pops against the crisp white snow. When I headed out on Saturday it was right in the middle of the blizzard caused by Storm Jonas. The wind was so powerful and you could barely see a thing: everything, including my camera, face and coat, was covered in freezing snow! The first set of pictures (bar the one above) were taken during the storm on Saturday. The second set were taken today, which was a beautiful blue sky day with bright sunshine that made the snow glint and glisten. I’d love to know which image is your favorite and why – let me know in the comments! Click through after the jump to see all 34 images of my #MakeYouSmileStyle snowy adventures.

  1. Beautiful! I can tell you’re truly loving living there.

My favorites are the snowy bridge from today and the people sledding! NYC seems to be a great city for a blizzard situation. It’s got great public transport in the subway system plus it’s walkable. Where I live in the Midwest would be crippled for days!

    • @Ame – Thank you! Yes, it’s an absolute dream come true to be here. Trying to soak up every second of it. Stay safe this winter in the mid west, I bet it’s freezing there, too!

  2. The two dogs brought a smile to my face as did the picture of you sledging!! 🙂

  3. My dream is to visit New York when it’s snowing. Thank you so much for sharing all these dreamy picture with us Will!

  4. The picture of the all the little people going down the hill on toboggans!!! Great post x

  5. Love all these! NYC draped in a new white coat is simply the best! …I also spy my apartment there which makes this pristine post even better. 😉

    • @Brooke – Isn’t that blue bike outside your apartment just adorable? Shame it was soon completely covered in snow! Thanks for the kind words! 🙂

  6. Your photos are fantastic Will, although I’m much prefer seeing this kind of cold weather on a blog than experiencing it! hahaha

  7. Ok totally loving these NYC shots and feeling slightly jealous compared with our slightly soggy and grey UK. x

  8. This is the same kind of winter weather we get in Montreal winters. I’ve been to New York in January about 6 years ago and there was barely any snow at the time. As for my favorite pictures I will say I really like the snow fall in the Central Park pic with the Lamp post and the mouse pic (very cute). Also your face sliding down the slop is priceless 😀

  9. I love everything about these pics. SO good. Wish I was there to experience the ultimate snow day with you! Big smooches x

  10. The Swedish Cottage in the snow is gorgeous! Definitely my favorite!

  11. Enjoying your current weather NY pics. Rain or shine (or snowy time), Will always stylin’ n smilin’.

  12. I love how people in New York actually got their snowboards out in the middle of the city, how funny! 🙂
Beautiful pictures, snow is just so fascinating! Love the little mouse, good timing you caught this little guy on camera. 🙂

  13. I love these pictures, Will! You make it look so dreamy. I was holed up in my warm apartment on Saturday but got out to Central Park yesterday – everyone was having such a fun time. I hope we get more snowstorms this winter, they make for the prettiest pictures!

  14. Amazing Will! I love the pic with the runners and the one with the little mouse! They remind me of last year when I was in NYC and it snowed like crazy. All the best from a snowless Amsterdam.

  15. I love all of them. Congrats! But that one which you’re “pretending to be an Eskimo”… Gosh! It’s so beautiful! I want a picture like that one too.

    Hi Will
I love these photos. You do take beautiful photos and I was wondering if you have done a course or just a natural. I visited New York from Australia a few years ago in the Spring and absolutely loved the city. It is so great to be able to see the same landmarks covered in snow. I do so want to come back.

    • @Sally – Very generous of you to say. I’ve not taken a photography course before, no. I hope you get to come back to NYC one day soon! Cheers to AUS! 🙂

  17. The yellow bike makes an impression on me. Is so strange to see a bike in the snow. Makes you wonder if they didn’t have the time to bring it inside. Nice pictures. A white dream.

  18. Such lovely photos – I really enjoyed the photo of the mouse, because a small little poof wandering through the snow . . . too cute! ❄️

  19. Great photos Will! Thanks for sharing. Great energy in all of them, love the Central Park shots:)

  20. Hello! I especially like the last one of all the folks sledding, like an outdoor festival, or a modern Bruegel painting. It’s great to see such a busy, busy place come to a halt and just make the best of it. My daughter is there in her last few weeks of college and was also out in the park taking photos! Thanks for sharing!

  21. Thank you so much for these amazing photos Will. Going to be spending some time in NY on and off over next year so it helps turn anticipation to excitement thank you ☺️

  22. Ooh, the second picture – The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe! Beautiful, magical photos.

  23. Your pictures are fantastic! The colour come so well! and I love the one with the yellow’s accent! It looks like you had lots of fun.

  24. I love them all! If I had to choose my faves would be the one with the view looking down the street with the row house, you in your fuzzy hat, the view looking over the skating rink with the city in the background and the blue bike in the snow. Great post!

  25. Amazing photos as always. I love the photo with the lamp. The splash of green is perfect. Would make a great print!!

  26. These all made me smile. We are a military family from the Midwest currently stationed in Texas. I so miss the snow (as in this pristine, sparkling snow from your pics- not the grey, sloppy aftermath lol!). As for my favorite. Wow, I can’t pick one! I love the pops of yellow from the taxi and the bike, the little mouse is super cute, and you sledding made me smile! Thanks for giving me a virtual taste of winter! Greetings from snowless Ft. Hood!

I so enjoyed your pictures of the snowstorm. I live so close, just in Westchester, and hoped to make it for the big snow. Alas, the trains shut down, so I am crossing my fingers for next time. I WOULD however love to know what camera you are using to take such amazing photos. Please share. I am in the market for a new camera. Thanks and best wishes

  29. Hi Will, I’m following you on instagram for a while and just found out you wrote so many posts about NYC! I love the pictures in this one – although I hope to have warmer weather in march, when I will be in NYC with my husband for the very first time. I’m getting more and more excited while watching all your pictures! Thanks for sharing! xxx Constanze
