Summer is definitely at it’s best when you can throw open the windows to allow a gentle breeze to flow in, making soft linen drapes billow as it does. That mix of a cooling breeze and bright sunshine is unmatched when it comes to feeling great about yourself, don’t you think? Well I believe that the same is true when it comes to your home – a mix of brilliant brights and cool whites offers guaranteed make-you-smile style. So in honour of the amazing weather we’ve had this summer I had to share these stylish finds from Urbanara.

If you’re looking to invite more hue into your home this summer then these brilliant brights finds are gonna be your new best friend! Perhaps you’ll consider layering the vibrant Aonla runner rug down your hallway for an instant flash of welcoming colour. Or, maybe you will keep things cool yet colourful with their cosy mint Avallon blanket draped over an armchair, or across the end of the bed. Whatever you decide to do with colourful textiles, it’s important to remember that you will be inviting both hue and texture into a space, so be sure to keep in mind the impact on the surrounding space. My top tip when it comes to decorating with an array of brights is to pick a hero piece and use that as your reference point each time you come to introduce another colour or texture. By taking this approach you ensure your look is coordinated yet organic, not matchy-matchy and staged. An easy way to stop everything looking ‘try hard’ is to pick a hero item with several colours, or varying shades from one colour family, so that you can reference those different colours or shades across the other items you layer into the room. For example, from the brilliant bright picks above you could pick the Aonla runner rug to be the hero piece in a narrow galley kitchen. This would serve well to draw the eye down the space, in turn elongating the space to the eye. You can then reference the colours in the rug by layering in the Misaki ceramic cups and Kalpetta mango wood bowls on open shelves, along with the Delbi laundry basket next to the countertops. Which of these brilliant bright picks would you invite into your home?

  1. Everything makes me smile, but the blue plate and that mint throw are my favourites! That mint throw goes perfect with my new colours on my blog too. 😉 Which is by the way inspired by your lovely blog – I wanted to incorporate more colour in my blog and I’m trying to follow your make-you-smile-style as well in my own home. 🙂 So I’m definitely putting that mint throw on my wish list too. x

  2. Oooh the blue plate really jumps out of me, love the rug and the laundry basket and little bowls too. The laundry basket makes me things of bright colourful homes on the med :O)
I love the rooms too, I like how the chairs don’t match yet look amazing and are all linked together with a theme. The racing green sofa is stunning, the velvet upholstery in both chairs add texture, style and colour. I think I need to be braver in design :O)
