Meet Parsnip – Mr. Bazaar’s New Puppy!

What a weekend! Yesterday we welcomed our first ever puppy into our Bright.Bazaar home – meet Parsnip! She’s a nine-week old Italian Greyhound and is absolutely perfect. We drove a seven hour round trip to pick her up from a litter in Wales and I was amazed that she slept all the way home. Whether you’ve followed Bright.Bazaar for years or just recently started following, you’ll probably be able to imagine just how excited I am about her coming home with us! I’m excited (and nervous!) for the puppy training that lies ahead so any tips you may have would be welcomed. OK, I’m going to dash but I’ll see you back here on Wednesday. Have a great Monday, friends! P.S. Isn’t her first dog bowl from Fenella Smith adorable? Perfect for Mr. Bazaar’s pooch!

Too much cuteness! Adorable! Would love it if you could sneak in some puppy advice here and there. We hope to move somewhere a bit bigger soon, and then will be on the search for a pup too. So scary and so exciting! πŸ˜€

@Dawnb – Sure, I’ll do my best! I’m totally still learning myself! πŸ™‚

The dog bowl is adorable. Almost, but not quite, as adorable as Parsnip. How could you not fall in love with that beautiful face. Congratulations all around!

She’s so cute!! Welcome to sunny home, darling!

  • Reply Lyn August 18, 2014 at 5:46 am

Train her to ring a bell to go outside. I have a ribbon of bells hanging on the back door and when my Trixie needs to go out, she rings the bells. It was such an easy training to do. And congrats!!!

How cute!! I KNOW how excited you are!! You are going to be in for some rough nights, lots of crying, going out for toilet breaks, getting her house trained. All I can say; don’t give up, it’s hard work a puppy!

I’m a huge fan of Italian greyhounds, as is Milo my dachshund. The only advice i have is give her all your love and take her everywhere. Milo travels well on the train and in cars and goes in shops and restaurants and the beach and to France, its brilliant.

    • Reply Will @ Bright.Bazaar August 18, 2014 at 10:49 am

@Mary – Great to hear that your Milo gets on so well with IGs! Thanks for the advice!

So exciting! I don’t know what we every did without our Georgie, she’s an integral part of our family. The first puppy year can be hard work (it’s amazing how many times they have to go to the toilet each day and night!) but totally worth it. I’d recommend you check out Cesar Milan The Dog Whisperer, he has shows on National Geographic channels and several books. He’s a total doggie genius! And I’d definitely suggest you join a puppy training class when she’s had all her vaccinations. Enjoy your puppy snuggles x

We got an italian greyhound puppy this summer!! They are so adorable and have such sweet natures.. TIlly is now 19 weeks old and quite the character! Two speeds, whipping around everywhere or passed out ensuring she’s touching either me or my husband at all times… Enjoy!!!! It’s the best πŸ™‚

    • Reply Will @ Bright.Bazaar August 19, 2014 at 8:30 am

@Laura – Awww Tilly sounds like such a sweetheart! We are still quite nervous as we are learning as we go and just want to be the best daddies we can be!

  • Reply Kristin August 19, 2014 at 4:05 am

Adorable! The water dish is amazing.

Oh what a cute little puppy! πŸ™‚

As an owner of a 2,5 year old Malamute I can give you the advice to be firm and consistent in applying your rules and of course loving. Don’t let her do the things as a puppy that may be cute now but will turn into a nuisance when she is grown up (like jumping up at people) Introduce her to everything that you know you will be doing and that is important to you slowly at her pace … like restaurants, car rides, hotels, crowds, trains, etc. A few minutes to start with as puppies are easily overstimulated. Work with a lot of positive reinforcements … no need to trying to “dominate” a dog (not a huge fan of Cesar Milan)

And most of all … enjoy this time!!! They grow up soooooo fast and a lot of things they will eventually grow out of πŸ™‚

    • Reply Will @ Bright.Bazaar August 19, 2014 at 8:30 am

@Uljana – Thank you for the kind tips and advice, much appreciated! πŸ™‚

Oh, she’s such a cutie pie Will! I am sure you both will enjoy her company, she looks so adorable! Be ready for some short nights (it IS like taking care of a baby) because the “potty” training can take a while. And assign her a place where she can sleep and rest, instead of taking her into your sofa, because before you know it, they don’t want to sleep anywhere else as on the sofa. πŸ˜‰ Most of all: just enjoy the friendship and love you will get from Parsnip, they have so much love to give to us… Hugs, Inge xxx

    • Reply Will @ Bright.Bazaar August 19, 2014 at 5:21 pm

@Inge – Thank you so much for the words of advice! Do you have any tips on the potty training front, please? x

What a cutie pie! I love Iggies! I had two, they’re the sweetest companions. They give great snuggles! Mine always loved being under the blanket with me (or just with each other). I just had to train them carefully not to jump up on everyone they met. πŸ™‚
