Before I share with you my wider inspirations from my trip to Santorini I thought it would be fun to post a home tour of the cave-style house we stayed in while on the island. It was located on the outskirts of a quiet village called Akrotiri on the southern tip of the island, right opposite the much photographed Oia. We were so pleased we picked this part of the island as the other two main towns, Fira and Oia are heaving with tourists pretty much day and night. This little place wasn’t fancy or showy, rather it was traditional and cosy; the perfect haven to escape for a week. I loved having a view of the famous caldera from our deck and the private dip pool was perfect for cooling off. You see that last picture? That was the roof deck that was accessed via the bedroom window and became our favourite place to sit and enjoy the late afternoon sun. We would each open a beer, grab our books and head out there to soak up the sun when it was at the perfect temperature – not too hot yet still warm enough that the rays felt enveloping. Peaceful moments like that are what make holidays so special, don’t you think? I have lots of Santorini posts to share including a dedicated sunset round up, all my colourful finds across the island and much more. In the meantime, here’s a fun, spare of the moment video tour of the house filmed on my iPhone. The quality isn’t the best (and as you can see I’m dressed straight from the beach!) but I thought it would be fun for you to see the space in this way alongside the photographs. What do you think of the house, friends?
