One of the reasons I have such a penchant for colour lies in its ability to breathe life and energy into a scheme. This couldn’t be truer than in this colourful country living room where hue is used in abundance to create a cheerful and welcoming vibe. Clean white walls are given depth and perspective thanks to an eclectic mix of distressed wooden frames painted in summery shades of blue and green. Although red is used across most of the fundamental pieces of the scheme – the rug, armchair, sofa and coffee table – it’s actually the Jielde table lamp that plays the most important role in the space. This surprise introduction of yellow, especially in the gloss finish, is the dash of modernity the scheme needed to stop it feeling twee. I’d be delighted to spend an afternoon here with a stack of magazines and a freshly brewed coffee! What inspires you about this room?
