One of the reasons I have such a penchant for colour lies in its ability to breathe life and energy into a scheme. This couldn’t be truer than in this colourful country living room where hue is used in abundance to create a cheerful and welcoming vibe. Clean white walls are given depth and perspective thanks to an eclectic mix of distressed wooden frames painted in summery shades of blue and green. Although red is used across most of the fundamental pieces of the scheme – the rug, armchair, sofa and coffee table – it’s actually the Jielde table lamp that plays the most important role in the space. This surprise introduction of yellow, especially in the gloss finish, is the dash of modernity the scheme needed to stop it feeling twee. I’d be delighted to spend an afternoon here with a stack of magazines and a freshly brewed coffee! What inspires you about this room?

  1. This photo totally reads “happiness and sunshine”…I love the combination of friendly pastels and pops of citrus.

  2. Love this colorful living room! Perfect for Spring!
And I fell in love with this beautiful rug ♥ Love the colour and pattern, do you please know where I could find a similar one?

  3. I agree, this space is one of happiness :O) White rooms lend themselves perfectly to be accessorized/furnished in colour and the distressed/rustic style softens the two contrasts and makes a room look really welcoming.

  4. what a cozy and inviting space. I love how there are so many colors going on in the room and yet the room still feels calm + relaxed.

Love the mix of fabrics on the armchair (especially with the seat cushion) and of course, hello to that fun yellow lamp for an industrial spin … a touch of unexpected.

fun pattern and bold color on the area rug too!

  5. Oh I agree, this is just a lovely use of color! Totally inspiring! My living room is looking a little brown now after looking at this…

  6. Love this – although not sure I am bold enough to clash those patterns – looks fab though xx
