Crikey! I have such a cracking interiors treat for you today, friends. Last week my fab friend in San Francisco, Caitlin, kindly wrote to me to introduce Bly as she worked on styling their lookbooks for the brand’s launch last week. How did Bly come about? Well, way back in 1889, with just two day’s notice and wearing the only dress she was taking, Nellie Bly, a journalist at the time, embarked on a mission to make Phileas Fogg’s fictional 80-day journey around the world a reality. Arriving back in her San Francisco home 72 days later having taken in the sights, sounds and inspirations of markets across the world ultimately led to former corporate lawyer, Rena Thiagarajan, into launching Bly all these years later. The brand marries a passion for design and travel, offering visitors to the site the opportunity to shop one-of-a-kind finds from markets from all over the world – but from the comfort of their laptop. In the coming months Rena will be traveling to bazaars and flea markets in India, Guyana and Bolivia to find more pieces to add to the range, and as with all items on the site, these pieces will be accompanied with by a street photograph to give customers a prospective of where the items come from and the story behind each piece that is sold. I just love that idea because, for me, knowing the providence of an item makes me cherish it even more. Don’t you agree?
