Mr. Bazaar’s Bedroom: Decorating Updates

I’ve spent a wonderful weekend meeting with bloggers from across Europe at London’s Meet The Blogger event, so instead of my usual 10 Things post I thought I would update you on the decorating progress in my rental. Last time I shared some pictures of the new removable wallpaper in my living room but today I’m focusing on the bedroom. I think colour can be difficult to get right in a bedroom, especially as I like the space to feel cosy and cocooning by night, yet fresh and uplifting by morning (I don’t expect much from my walls, do I?!). I decided to paint with Farrow & Ball’s Cook’s Blue because I’ve used it in an old apartment (seen here) and I was so impressed by how it looked that I knew I wanted to work it into a room in my new place. It turns out that it’s the perfect choice for this space because the colour feels coastal-like with a bright and breezy character by day, but in the softer nighttime light it expresses a much deeper and warmer quality. The typographic ‘Rise and Shine’ screen print is perfect because it reminds me of what my gran used to say to me every morning when I stayed at her cottage in the school holidays. Plus, the golden yellow hue is the perfect match for the blue walls. I introduced pattern into the scheme via graphic bedding and placed a simple yet cheerful vase of daffodils beside the bed. There are still a few more pieces to add but it’s really coming together – what do you think, folks?!

what a calm and relaxing room with loads of fun MR! I love the blue accent wall and how it pairs with drapes and the natural wood + the cheerful yellow print!

Simple white furnishing is best to show case the patterns on the bedding and the blanket. You couldn’t have picked a more perfect flower for the room. LOVE!!

It looks so lovely! Fresh and still relaxing! Our bedroom is blue as well, I think it’s such a relaxing colour. The tone you used is really beautiful and I love the little yellow contrasts popping up!

Love it! Simple yet stylish. So many rentals are trying to be inoffensive and come across as bland. This room is a breath of fresh air in any prospective tenant’s mind.

It looks so good! Love the light coming in, works wonderfully with the colour scheme, how could you ever wake up in a bad mood in that room?! I (not really me so much as the hubbie) have been decorating this weekend, one room painted white, the rest of the house to go…!

Lovely! I’m so happy to see that you place a vase with flowers on your bed table! Flowers in the bed room brings you sweet dreams and make you feel happy and in a good mood in the morning! I hope you make flowers in the bed room a habbit πŸ˜‰

Lovely story behind your graphic print. It’s so nice to have memories that go with the things you’re surrounded by. Quotes on prints are so popular now, but this way it has another meaning to it, taking it to a much more personal level.

Hi Will. I am shamelessly in love with your positive view on life. You’re helping a troubled mind through the day.

After seeing these photos, I went straight to Amazon and bought the IKEA book. With the pink cover, naturellement.
