HomeBarn: A Countryside Antiques Adventure

Remember a few weekends ago when I visited Home Barn? Well, despite winter deciding to come back in full (gail!)force on Monday – the wind was biting and snow was gently falling – I decided to venture back out to Home Barn for an antiques adventure. When you enter Home Barn there’s a real sense of excitement as you have no idea what you are about to find; a feeling only accentuated by the softly falling snow that managed to fall through the gaps in the barn’s roof. The barn itself is of lofty proportions, with wooden beams so wonky they might as well call them The Definition of Character! Swooping drapes accentuate the height and create an almost theatrical feel to the space, within which I discovered an eclectic mix of vintage furniture and accessories across industrial, reclaimed, antique and modern themes. The owners, Sarah and Sally, regularly change up the assortment of products and finds on offer, cleverly weaving modern day trends through the myriad of vintage pieces. This is most notable with the fluro accents seen across both furniture and accessories throughout the barn. I may have left HomeBarn with a cold nose but I was fizzing with creative ideas for my home – have you ever had a magical antiques experience?

Hi Will, oh I’ve had loads of them. Antique shops have been one my favourite haunting grounds since I was dreaming of moving out of home as a teenager – so many treasures to be found. It would have been fun to do it with fellow bloggers – Caroline would have been in heaven there with all that vintage! Mel

@Mel – She was! In fact, at one point she was stood on a table hunting out some antique goodies – so funny!

how fun!! I love going to vintage shops, especially when you just don’t know what treasure you may just find! I so love that last shot … the vignette is PERFECT!

I am crazy about that polka dot blanket, the gorgeous chandelier, and two two antique rugs I see in the background!

so jealous of Igor and Caroline! We will have to do the same in December in Munich!

Oh my, love this place!! I must return to England just to visit it.

I’m totally green with jealousy! We have a big antique wharehouse near us (in Melbourne, Australia) and for the first few minutes after entering I find it hard to take anything in as my head is flicking from side to side and my brian is practically exploding at the possibilites of the items I see. I have had days when I haven’t purchased a thing, and other days where I have walked away with a boot-full (and then had to hide half of it from my hubby!!)
I think I might possibly not cope with all the goodness in the Home Barn….:)

I love the look of Home Barn, I could spend ages going round, I find antique places so intriguing – like you’re lost in another world surrounded by treasures. The pictures are lovely, I really like the bedroom, rustic furniture and pastel hues are so inviting in a home, adding such character and warmth.

It was a pleasure to host Caroline, Igor and yourself earlier this week. We has such fun. Your pictures make the barn look so incredible….. how you did that given the light and in inclement weather was masterful. Looking forward to our next adventure! Sarah & Sally at Homebarn (Marlow, Bucks)

    Hello Will,
this is my first time commenting your blog, on the contrary I would not say the same on following your blog. Sincerely, I do like how REASONABLE easy is to dig in it, but what is the most interesting is the CURE OF DETAILS. Thanks for sharing your hints with us. It’s very inspirational.
