When I heard that Charlotte Hedeman Gueniau, founder of colourful homeware company Rice, was set to release a book centred around the Danish brand’s vibrant, happy and fun-loving ethos, I quite literally yelped with joy! I’ve written about Rice many times on Bright.Bazaar over the years (here and here, for example) so it’s a pleasure to now be reviewing Charlotte’s super jolly book, Happy Home. I was lucky enough to meet Charlotte last year and although we only spoke for a brief period, I can feel her warm spirit and energy for creating a vibrant and welcoming home throughout the Happy Home book. From bedrooms to bathrooms and kitchens to playrooms, and everything in between, Charlotte’s book is the ultimate guide to inviting a cheerful and welcoming feel – a feeling that’s synonymous with the Rice brand – into your own home. Peppered throughout you will find simple ‘happy home makes’ that give the Happy Home book a gentle crafty, informal, throw-yourself-into-decorating approach that encourages you to feel fearless when it comes to decorating yourself. The Happy Home book is written with heart and infectious energy that will make you want to jump up from the sofa to rearrange your kitchen cupboards or throw a brightly patterned bedspread over the bed. Go on, add the Happy Home book to your decorating book arsenal today and enter Charlotte’s wonderful world!

  5. Hi Will,

Wow I love the colours in this book. Actually this is what I imagine your book to look like – happy and packed with mucho colour! My favourite detail is the one you want for our kitchen, the display of plates. I love how it looks however, how the plates are stacked makes me imagine that when you go to pull out one dish the rest will fall and smash on the floor!

    🙂
