Photography by Will Taylor

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to visit Paris and as always the city provided a beautiful and inspiring experience. The moment you step off the Eurostar train it’s hard not to get whipped up in the grandeur and beauty of the French capital that surrounds you. I spent most of the trip walking, camera in hand (pastry in the other!) soaking up the sights and sounds of this magical place. I visited lots of my usual haunts, from shopping in lifestyle store Merci and Le Petit Atelier Paris to cocktails in Georges at the top of Centre Pompidou (the Instagram snap of the Eiffel Tower at night was taken from up there). You just can’t tire of Parisian architecture whether it’s by day or night, can you?! After being closed on previous visits, I finally took a visit to the Musee d’Orsay where the Impressionist art was divine, as was the building itself. I also dined at Grazie, a new pizza house and cocktail bar, which is an offshoot of Merci and run by Julien Cohen. Dark and moody inside, the decor is perfectly in line with the current industrial trend; one that is echoed in subway tiles, school chairs and exposed bulbs in abundance. Affordable, lively and fun, this restaurant was one of my favourite new finds from the trip. Have you been to Paris? What do you love about the City of Light?

  1. Your pictures are truly wonderful.
My first trip to Paris I never got to leave the train station!
But the next time, my husband and I spent a week there and I loved every second there.
The Musee de Orsay was my favorite museum.
It just got better and better.
I dream of returning to the City of Lights all the time.
Love your blog and visiting Paris vicariously through you.
    Love from,

  2. J'adore Paris! The entire city is like a picture postcard!
It's been a few years since my last visit and I'd love to go back.

  12. Your picture are lovely and they really capture some of what is so magical about the city and what makes me so happy to be a Parisian girl. Thanks for sharing so beautifully.
I still dream about living in London or gorgeous England again someday though…!!!

  13. I just discovered your beautiful blog via Latte Lisa and already I am in love! I adore images of Paris and so far this is just a hint of what remains for me to explore here!

  14. Paris captures your heart and doesn't release it…….. and it is somehow OK. I yearn to have a pied-a-terre in Paris so I can visit and wander through the beauty often.

  15. *sigh* These pictures just make me want to hop on the Eurostar and be there right now! The soft light and colours of your pics have managed to capture the mood beautifully!

  16. Oh goodness, I just love Paris and seeing your beautiful pictures of it, is making me miss it even more! Would love to talk hubby into a weekend away there!:)

  17. I love…everything! And oh, to be just a train ride away…le sigh. Love your shots Will!!

And to compete Debby I would say that I miss the Nutella Waffles as well 😉

  20. These photos are divine. I love everything about Paris. I could move there tomorrow. My favorite part has to be the little scenes on every street corner, perfectly styled in their own natural way. Life is so beautifully normal in Paris.

I also love, LOVE, the wrought iron detailing outside windows. LOVE.

  21. Gorgeous! We are back for two weeks next week, and I am jonesing for some of those facades as well. 😉

  22. I just opened all your links to possibly write them down for my future visit to Paris this Spring, thanks for sharing those. Your photo series looks beautiful, Lisa sent me here;) Good to read you had such a wonderful time, I don't expect anything else from Paris.

  23. I so LOVE Paris! It was the last girly trip I took before the bambino came along. We walked the length and breadth of the place, just wonderful. Your pics are stunning by the way!

  24. Ooh, I love all of your photos Will! Looks like a fabulous trip! I've been to Paris twice, once when I was 18 and again when I was 21, and absolutely loved it. Hopefully I'll be able to visit the City of Lights again one day…perhaps with a proper suitcase rather than a backpack this time! ~Lily

  25. Your photos are incredible Will! It looks like such a beautifully romantic city and you have captured it so perfectly. The first shot of the carousel is just lovely! Thank you for sharing your trip with us! xx

  26. Wow… long live instagram and Paris! What a fabulous set of pics. I have come over from Latte Lisa to check out your post on Paris and am in love (again!)… Thanks.

  27. Preciosas fotos!!!

  28. I don't think its even possible to choose what I love most about Paris. I'm so jealous your just a few short train ride hours away. Looking forward to trying Grazie, next time I'm there. A'revoir

  29. I've been once.. I was studying in Spain and spent a long weekend there. I had a friend who was an au pair and met another girl and I to take us around… it was divine! Lots of wandering and people watching… le sigh, take me back.

  30. Oh I've never been but planning to this summer. In fact I'm planning to go around different places in France and Paris is at the top of my list. I just wish I was closer (Canada is not what you could call “next door”). I've bookmarked this page so I can right down what you've suggested……it's gonna be great.
