mackage-mens-leather-jacket-1Here’s the thing, I used to shy away from wearing leather jackets. Why? Because I felt that they were too ‘street’ for my personal style. My inner monologue was all like: ‘you can’t pull that look off’ or ‘you aren’t stylish enough to wear leather jackets’. Then, as with many things as I grew older, I grew in confidence and found my stride when it came to my personal style. I realized that I could feel confident and stylish in whatever I felt drawn to wearing. In the last twelve to eighteen months I’ve started to understand what works for my body shape, what pieces I feel most comfortable in and that I can dress for how I feel rather than for what I think I should be wearing. Anyone else have this feeling? I recently took the jump, bought a leather jacket-meets-bomber and embraced a look I once felt intimated to wear – and I’m so thrilled I did! See the full Bright.Style look after the jump!

mackage-mens-leather-jacket-2I love that I found the confidence to style and wear a leather jacket in a way that marries well with my own style. I didn’t want to shy away from my usual ‘European-meets-gently-preppy’ sartorial style so I wore the leather bomber from Mackage with a perfectly autumnal sweater from COS (who, BTW, are literally one of my favorite high street brands). The amber color of the sweater matches perfectly with the autumn leaves (and you guys know how much I love a color match moment!), plus it pairs really well with this super comfortable short sleeve blue denim shirt.mackage-mens-leather-jacket-3I rounded out the outfit with a pair of black wash twill trousers and my well worn in(!) but still oh-so-comfortable Armani sneakers. Do you like to wear leather jackets? Is there a style or item of clothing that you’ve recently embraced wearing?mackage-mens-leather-jacket-4 // Photography by Will Taylor

  1. Will, thank you for this. For years I felt nervous about wearing skinny denim and last year I finally started to and it felt amazing! It’s good to know that someone I admire so much has insecurities and can overcome them as well. Love your blog and IG, keep it up!

  2. My husband would love this jacket. Potential Christmas gift I think! 😉

  3. I totally understand the feeling there! It took me some time to become more adventurous with my style too! Loving that you wear wear a canadian brand and you know how much i LOVE COS!!!
