Kirkby design outdoor fabricIt’s time to say goodbye to the tired looking white plastic furniture on the patio and say hello to a summer of outdoor living full of colour and style thanks to the new range of outdoor fabric from emerging design house, Kirkby Design. Part of The Romo Group, Kirkby Design launched back in September 2009 and is a library of modern, high performance fabrics. I was instantly drawn to the brand’s aesthetic which sees an array of collections offering a stylish and contemporary designs in a bright and sophisticated palette. As summer arrives, I’ve dived into their new range of high performance outdoor fabrics to seek out ideas for an outdoor refresh.

Kirkby design outdoor fabric Who is responsible for these energetic designs I hear you ask? It’s all down to Creative Director Jordan Mould who has spent the last three years taking the brand in a bold new direction. It’s clear to see Jordan’s influence as the brand’s fabric designs are perfect for inviting a contemporary edge into a space via an inspired array of vibrant and fresh colour palettes for upholstery.Kirkby-design-outdoor-fabric-2The new launch sees Kirkby Design’s first range of outdoor prints alongside innovative recycled qualities and a fresh range of colour combinations. Naturally, bold patterns and a striking palette are still at the heart of the range, which spans six new collections including Arcade, a selection of bold geometrics, Astro, a textured semi plain weave and Leaf, a recycled felted wool collection. My favourite, however, are Terrazzo Prints and Terrazzo Plains – a unique selection of outdoor fabrics that are total make-you-smile style print and pattern party!Kirkby-design-outdoor-fabric-3As a whole the Terrazzo Outdoor collection provides interior designers, retailers, furniture manufacturers and upholsterers the opportunity to inject new found life into outdoor furniture. Terrazzo Plains provides a versatile and practical fabric offering thanks to a series of a plain and semi-plain designs across a selection of bright, fresh colours – think simple, graphic pairings like blue and yellow. These simple designs perfectly complement the Terrazzo Prints, which is a much bolder collection of graphic prints in five eye catching and super colourful designs. These include: Brick, a large scale geometric reminiscent of a computerised brick wall, and looks incredible in the hot pink colourway; Basket, an over-sized, simplified basket weave effect that is truly stunning in blue and yellow; Point, a graphic chevron design; Terrazzo, an intricate mosaic design inspired by Terrazzo stone flooring, and the inspiration for the overall collection name, and a personal favourite; Deck, which is a contemporary take on a classic deck chair block stripe.Kirkby-design-outdoor-fabric-4If you are keen to dip your toes into brighter hues then the summer season is the perfect time to do so. Think of your outdoor space as a great environment in which to experiment with some fresh patterns and colours. So, tell me, which of the new Kirkby Design Terrazzo Prints are catching your eye? What are you inspired to upholster with them?Kirkby-design-outdoor-fabric-5 // Photography by, and posted in collaboration with, Kirkby Design | All views my own

  1. I love the brick or the basket prints, maybe I would mix them, Will. I take the pillows from our sofa outside now but then have to bring them in at night so they don’t get dewy or rained on. The blue and yellow is so you, I’ve been liking pinks though lately. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Excellent designs, indeed. Nice matching of colors and design. And I agree, they’re energetic! 😉

These prints are amazing! My garden is in need of a lot of love, but once it is ready I will definitely be purchasing some bright colour outdoor cushions!
