I don’t think you’ll be surprised to hear that my answer to the question “Would you like to spend an afternoon running 5K through showers of colour?”, was an instant, “Hell, yes!”. As a gentleman hooked on hue the Colour Run has been something I’ve been eager to experience for several years, so when Dulux asked me to run, I jumped at the chance. With a bevy of blogging pals alongside me, I set off into the clouds of colour for an adventurous afternoon like I had never experienced before. The mood amongst the 18,000 people taking part was palpable and electric – it’s safe to say that we were all high on hue! Can you tell I was having a good time?!

Of course, Kate, Katie, Pippa, Zoe, Joanna, Caroline, Toby and I weren’t throwing ourselves headfirst into colour without good purpose (but let’s get real, Mr. Bazaar would happily do this anytime!). No, we were running to raise money for Out of The Dark. As a charitable social enterprise, Out of The Dark recycles, restores and revamps salvaged furniture as a means to train, educate and employ young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Given they are based in High Wycombe – the old furniture-making capital of the UK – it made sense to base the enterprise around furniture; in fact, 99% of the pieces used for projects run by founders Jay & Jade is saved from landfill. You can find out more about their enterprise, as well as discovering the many ways you can help support their great work. Here’s to colour making lives better, folks!

  1. Congratulations for completing the run! It looked like so much fun and for a great cause too. I saw many of the runners covered in colour on the tube today and instantly thought of all of you. Have a lovely week! 😉

  2. I didn’t know about this event but pleased to be introduced to it so I can try and run next year. Looks like you all had a great time!

  3. Fantastic post and pictures! Monday needs all this bright colour! 🙂

  4. Wow Will, this looks like so much fun! It instantly reminded me of this great picture I once saw in National Geographic where people were celebrating with colour powder too. I would have to train first, since I wouldn’t be able to finish the 5 k… Yep, my condition is that bad. 😀 So great of you to complete it and to run for a good cause as well!! Although I wouldn’t be happy to clean up my bathroom after a colour run. 😉 Have a happy, colourful and fun week Will! Big hugs, Inge and her boys 😉 xxx
