Remember how excited I was when I blogged back in April about the news of West Elm’s first London store? Well that excitement moved up a notch yesterday when Mr. Bazaar was given a tour of the company’s first London location a month before the doors officially open. The reason for my visit was to check out the space inside the store that will host my latest collaboration with the brand. I’ve teamed up with Etsy and curated a gallery wall of local London artists’ work that will be displayed inside the new West Elm store in London – how exciting is that?! I think it’s so wonderful that they are dedicating space to shine a spotlight on talented local artists and honoured that I was able to be part of the collaboration.
Today I thought it would be fun to give you a sneak peek inside the store, along with a taster selection of the prints and artworks I chose for the special Etsy gallery wall. (You’ll be able to see and buy the full collection from the gallery wall in-store from December 5th.) For the edit I stayed true to my love of whimsical colour, graphic pattern, striking typography and sophisticated black accents. To demonstrate this I chose a diverse selection of pieces from the abstract paintings by Lola Donoghue and whimsical illustrations by Amyisla Illustration through to James Brown’s bright and graphic prints and Natalie Singh’s colourful take on city life. Despite their varying styles, I think the red thread colour palette that flows through each pieces helps them to hang really well together. I can’t wait to see how the final gallery wall turns out in store but for now I’d love to know which piece is catching your eye? Plus, if you have any must-know Etsy artists, I’d love to read about your favourites.
