I’ve spent a wonderful weekend meeting with bloggers from across Europe at London’s Meet The Blogger event, so instead of my usual 10 Things post I thought I would update you on the decorating progress in my rental. Last time I shared some pictures of the new removable wallpaper in my living room but today I’m focusing on the bedroom. I think colour can be difficult to get right in a bedroom, especially as I like the space to feel cosy and cocooning by night, yet fresh and uplifting by morning (I don’t expect much from my walls, do I?!). I decided to paint with Farrow & Ball’s Cook’s Blue because I’ve used it in an old apartment (seen here) and I was so impressed by how it looked that I knew I wanted to work it into a room in my new place. It turns out that it’s the perfect choice for this space because the colour feels coastal-like with a bright and breezy character by day, but in the softer nighttime light it expresses a much deeper and warmer quality. The typographic ‘Rise and Shine’ screen print is perfect because it reminds me of what my gran used to say to me every morning when I stayed at her cottage in the school holidays. Plus, the golden yellow hue is the perfect match for the blue walls. I introduced pattern into the scheme via graphic bedding and placed a simple yet cheerful vase of daffodils beside the bed. There are still a few more pieces to add but it’s really coming together – what do you think, folks?!
