As I flew back to London after speaking on a social media panel at IMM Cologne in Germany, I was looking out of the plane window at the twinkling golden lights of the toy town-like cities below and wondering not only how to digest the day’s learnings, but also how best to share it with so many of you across the world who were unable to attend. An hour later as I lugged my case (seriously, when will I learn to pack lightly for a two day trip?) I saw an in-flight magazine left open at an infographic and ‘ping!’, I knew instantly how to share my key findings with you all. Now, as you can see, I’m no graphic designer so calling this an infographic is massively overselling it but I couldn’t think of an more suitable word to describe it, so I figured I’d just roll with it!
Each time I speak alongside fellow bloggers I am reminded just how inspiring it is to hear the diverse stories behind one another’s blogging adventures. On this occasion I spoke about social media alongside the following inspiring and knowledgable people: Holly Becker, blogger, columnist and author of two best-selling books; Steffi Luxat, blogger, author and magazine journalist; Costas Voyatzis, blogger and Pinterest tastemaker; Micle-Mihai Cristian, CEO of Freshhome; and editors from huge architecture and home interview websites Archiportale and Freunde von Freunden. I’d like to send thanks to my fellow panelists for sharing their wise words, as well as to everyone who came to the panel and took part in the social media Q&A. So, with that, I leave you with five of my key social media tips from the event. Feel free to share and pin the ‘infographic’ – here’s to sharing all of our experiences and making social media an even richer part of our daily lives!

@Hege Hi! Sure, so my blog posts are automatically linked to my twitter account, but you should check out HootSuite, which is a great tool for scheduling tweets in advance if you need to.

I like that infographic, great summary, short and right to the point! And you really answer your readers’ questions even though you get tons of comments and questions, so you’re the best example for that tip! I noticed that when I visited your blog for the first time.

@Julia – I think it’s best to go with what feels natural to you and your readers. Find a rhythm that works for you and stick to it – the readers that resonate with it will, too!
